In August, we hosted our networking event “Inspiration Morning with BDA”, bringing together more than 50 HR professionals.
In today’s workplace, where artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming an everyday work tool, HR professionals need not only to keep up with technological developments but also to understand how AI is changing employee habits, influencing organizational culture, and shaping the demand for future skills in the labour market.

Our lecturer, Dace Bole, PhD in Economics and Business, highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence and the development of leadership skills at a time when technology is becoming increasingly present in our professional lives.

Dace also shared practical recommendations on how to improve individual and team effectiveness, make everyday work more meaningful, prioritize our own needs, and set achievable goals while avoiding the creation of a toxic work environment.

Filips Lastovskis, Editor-in-Chief of Delfi, gave an engaging talk on how to turn everyday events into stories that can resonate with a wider audience. He shared insights into what companies should pay attention to when communicating publicly – and what to avoid to prevent negative media attention and reputational damage.
It is clear that AI is no longer a question of the future – it is already changing the way we work, make decisions, and organize our everyday processes. This topic was explored in greater detail by our lecturer and AI expert Aleks Ļevšunovs.

Employees are already using a wide range of publicly available AI tools. However, when an organization does not have clear guidelines for their safe use, such initiatives can create significant risks – from uncontrolled use of AI agents to the leakage of sensitive information.

To demonstrate AI-related risks to HR professionals in a practical and visual way, Aleks created an interactive AI risk assessment tool. Users enter the task they intend to perform – for example, screening submitted CVs – and the AI tool they plan to use. Within seconds, the tool helps identify the potential level of risk.

To conclude the event, Laura Pļavniece, Head of HR at TV3 Group, and Artūrs Cvetkovs, representative of HR Week Latvia, discussed the evolving role of HR professionals – from an administrative support function to a strategic business partner.
The discussion explored how organizations can simplify internal policies, develop more effective internal communication and PR strategies, and better communicate what has already been done to promote employee wellbeing.

Technology can help organizations work faster and more efficiently, but it is people who ultimately determine how these technologies are used and what kind of working environment they help create.
We would like to thank our speakers for bringing such important and relevant topics to the table as well as everyone who joined us for the discussions, shared their insights, and contributed to the event.
We hope you gained valuable insights, connected with fellow HR professionals, and found inspiration for creating an even more effective, safe, and human-centred workplace in your organization.
